·         Asian Youth Day (AYD) is a Catholic youth summit in Asian Region.

·         The event is held in every three years and attend by more than two thousand Catholic youth from various countries in Asia.

·         The spirit of evangelization is built through any activities in this event.

Greeting

P:    Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

A:   I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Father in heaven, let your Spirit come upon us with power to fill us with his gift. May he make our hearts pleasing to you, and ready to do your will. May your Spirit also motivate us to have a spirit of evangelization which is built through many activities in our daily life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Liturgy of the Word

First Reading  Acts 22:30; 23:6-11

L:    Paul is cross-examined by the Jewish Council, in Jerusalem

since he wanted to find out what Paul was being accused of by the Jews, the next day he released him and ordered the chief priests and the entire council to meet. He brought Paul down and had him stand before them.

When Paul noticed that some were Sadducees and others were Pharisees, he called out in the council, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. I am on trial concerning the hope of the resurrection of the dead.” When he said this, a dissension began between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. (The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, or angel, or spirit; but the Pharisees acknowledge all three.) Then a great clamor arose, and certain scribes of the Pharisees” group stood up and contended, “We find nothing wrong with this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?” When the dissension became violent, the tribune, fearing that they would tear Paul to pieces, ordered the soldiers to go down, take him by force, and bring him into the barracks. That night the Lord stood near him and said, “Keep up your courage! For just as you have testified for me in Jerusalem, so you must bear witness also in Rome.”

The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I desire that those also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory,  which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

“Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

Preparation of the Altar and the Gifts

P:    Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
for through your goodness we have received
the bread we offer you:
fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
it will become for us the bread of life.

A:   Blessed be God for ever.

P:    By the mystery of this water and wine
may we come to share in the divinity of Christ
who humbled himself to share in our humanity.

P:    Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
for through your goodness we have received
the wine we offer you:
fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
it will become our spiritual drink.

A:   Blessed be God for ever.

Invitation to Prayer

P:    With humble spirit and contrite heart
may we be accepted by you, O Lord,
and may our sacrifice in your sight this day
be pleasing to you, Lord God.

P:    Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.

P:    Pray, brethren (brothers and sisters),
that my sacrifice and yours
may be acceptable to God,
the almighty Father.

A:   May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands

Eucharistic Prayer II

P:    The Lord be with you.

P:    It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks, Father most holy,

Fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people,

The mystery of faith.

A:   We proclaim your Death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

P:    Therefore, as we celebrate
the memorial of his Death and Resurrection,
we offer you, Lord,
the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation,
giving thanks that you have held us worthy
to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray
that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church,
spread throughout the world,

Communion Rite

P:    At the Savior’s command 
and formed by divine teaching, 
we dare to say:

A:   Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

P:    Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,
graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy,
we may be always free from sin
and safe from all distress,
as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sign of Peace

P:    Lord Jesus Christ,
who said to your Apostles;

Breaking of the Bread

Lord Jesus, renew us by the mysteries we have shared. Help us to know you and prepare us for the gifts of the Spirit. Lord, we are proud and glad to be the host country of AYD 2017. Therefore, help us to dare joining in this event to be participants in each our parish. We also pray for the goodness of the event. Lord Jesus, we praise your name, now and forever.

Renungan Singkat Dehonian (26 Mei 2017)

Yoh 16: 20-23a

Sahabat dehonian yang terkasih, dalam Injil yang baru saja kita dengar tadi, Yesus mengatakan bahwa para murid-Nya akan mengalami dukacita. Para murid akan meratapi dan menangisi kepergian Yesus – yang mereka kasihi sebagai Guru dan Sahabat – yang sangat mencintai mereka. Pengalaman ke depan ini menunjuk pada peristiwa di mana setelah kebangkitan, Yesus akan naik ke surga. Meski demikian, dukacita itu akan berubah menjadi sukacita. Walau Yesus meninggalkan, namun Ia sebenarnya pergi untuk memohon kepada Bapa agar mengutus Roh Kudus supaya menyertai tugas pewartaan para murid. Penyertaan Roh Kudus inilay yang menjadikan para murid bersukacita; sebab mereka tidak sendiri.

Sukacita para murid itu perlu kita hayati. Dalam kehidupan ini, tidak sedikit orang yang bersukacita karena kekayaan yang mereka miliki, jabatan yang dipegang (walau tak jarang mendapatkannya dengan mengorbankan iman dan suara hati), popularitas yang disandang, dan kenyataan duniawi lainnya yang sebenarnya memberikan sukacita fana. Semuanya itu sebenarnya adalah sukacita atau kekayaan fana-duniawi yang bias hilang lenyap seketika karena gempa, kebakaran, bencana lain, atau bahkan dicuri orang lain. Jabatan tidak akan selamanya disandang karena suatu saat harus diberikan kepada orang lain. Popularitas tidak akan selamanya bisa dirasakan. Hormat tidak akan selamanya dapat kita terima dari orang lain. Namun, sukacita pernyertaan Tuhan Yesus yang melalui Roh Kudus-lah yang sebenarnya menjadi sukacita sejati.

Kata “Penyertaan Tuhan” dalam bahasa Ibrani menggunakan kata Immanuel/Emmanuel (El=Allah, Immanu=Dengan Kita), mau menekankan bahwa dengan keikutsertaan Tuhan dalam hidup, kita dimampukan dan ditabahkan untuk menghadapi pelbagai badai dan cobaan. Bukan berarti tantangan hidup akan hilang, tatapi penyertaan Tuhan memampukan kita untuk menghadapinya, tidak menghindari atau lari darinya.

Di lain pihak, arti penyertaan Tuhan ini mengingatkan tugas pewartaan kita sebagai orang Kristiani sejati yang diundang untuk mewartakan karya penyertaan Ilahi kepada sesama dan alam semesta. Sukacita penyertaan Tuhan hendaknya kita bagikan kepada orang-orang di sekitar – baik itu dengan berbagi, tersenyum, menyapa dan bahkan memaafkan – agar sesama pun mengalami sukacita yang sama. Sukacita Tuhan itu pula hendaknya kita bagikan kepada alam semesta, yakni dengan mencintai ibu bumi, lingkungan tempat kita tinggal, agar tetap terlihat asri dan menyejukkan. Akhirnya, marilah kita menjadi pribadi yang selalu bersukacita, karena sukacita sejati itu hanya berasal dan dari Allah yang Ilahi.
